16h agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

17h agoOladapo (toe) has undergone surgery and is not expected to be ready for OTAs, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Although he will miss OTAs, the team remains optimistic that Clark will be ready for training camp. He suffered a stress fracture doing drills on the turf at the NFL combine. The rookie was the third safety selected by the Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft, following Xavier McKinney and Anthony Johnson. The Oregon State product will need to get his health back to bar in order to make an impression during training camp.

It is unclear what Clark's injury is or how he sustained it, but he is a rare offseason addition to IR. This will allow the Eagles' some roster flexibility going forward. The journeyman failed to make a roster or practice squad during the 2023 season, but will look to bounce back once his health is back up to par.

Harrell totaled four receptions for 45 yards as a sixth-year senior at Miami in 2023. The Jets are thin at wide receiver going into 2024, so he could be in the competition for the last few spots on their final depth chart.

Miller initially signed with the Chiefs back in January, but after using both free agency and the draft to add depth at wide receiver, Kansas City has now chosen to part ways with him. He hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2021.

Koenig has appeared in five games for the Brewers this season, allowing two runs (one earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out four over 8.2 innings. The 30-year-old southpaw will return to the Brewers' bullpen, while right-hander Corbin Martin was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Martin was called up by the Brewers for Friday's game against the Cubs, though he did not play. He'll head back down to Nashville, where he has given up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five over 4.1 frames. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee recalled left-hander Jared Koenig from Triple-A Nashville.

22m agoThe Brewers placed Wiemer (knee) on the 10-day IL on Saturday.
Wiemer left Friday's game against the Cubs after his left knee buckled while fielding the ball in the bottom of the eighth inning, and he will undergo an MRI on Saturday, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He was called up to the Brewers on April 14, and he has gone 4-for-23 with two runs since then. With Wiemer moved to the IL, Milwaukee called up Andruw Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

32m agoMiddleton (forearm) threw a bullpen session Saturday and is expected to throw two more next week before heading to Double-A Springfield for a rehab assignment, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Middleton noted that his session Saturday went well and he has not experienced any discomfort in his forearm since receiving a PRP injection April 6, per Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat. Barring any setbacks next week, Middleton is set to start his rehab assignment, and some good outings in Springfield should mean a return to the majors for the 30-year-old.

Irving led the Mavericks on offense and was a consistent weapon alongside Luka Doncic, reaching the 30-point mark in three of the six outings in the first-round series against the Clippers. He should continue to play a prominent role on offense for Dallas ahead of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Thunder.

Lively was perfect from the field, active on the glass and efficient in limited minutes out there. The rookie has shown he can be a valuable contributor on both ends of the court when called upon duty, but his fantasy upside won't be high if he continues to play off the bench.

3h agoDoncic accumulated 28 points (9-26 FG, 1-10 3Pt, 9-11 FT), seven rebounds, 13 assists, one block and one steal in 43 minutes during Friday's 114-101 win over the Clippers in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Kyrie Irving led the way for the Mavericks on offense, and Doncic didn't have his most efficient display, but he filled the stat sheet admirably and finished just three rebounds away from a triple-double. The fact that he surpassed the 25-point mark in all but one of the six games in the series against the Clippers shows how dominant Doncic can be on offense, and the numbers don't lie, as he averaged 29.8 points, 9.5 assists and 8.8 rebounds per game in the first round, posting four double-doubles and one triple-double in the process.

The Clippers needed someone to step up with Kawhi Leonard (knee) sidelined in Game 6, and Ivica Zubac did what he could on both ends of the court. He finished the series with three double-doubles in six outings and scored in double digits each time while shooting a robust 60 percent from the field. Zubac isn't flashy and is not one of the most athletic big men in the league, but he gets the job done. He also averaged 11.7 points and 9.2 boards per contest during the regular season.

George was asked to carry the Clippers offensively in the absence of Kawhi Leonard (knee), but he ended the series on a sour note, as he couldn't reach the 20-point mark in three of his last four appearances. In fact, George surpassed the 22-point mark just once in the six contests against the Mavericks, and his numbers throughout the series were disappointing. He averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from three-point range. Those were a clear decline compared to his regular-season figures, and it might be fair to wonder if the Clippers are going to bring him back for 2024-25, or if they might look at potential trade options during the offseason.

Harden was one of the players the Clippers needed to step up with Kawhi Leonard (knee) sidelined, and the veteran guard couldn't come through when the team needed him the most. He was particularly woeful in the final two games of the series, where he went 7-for-28 from the field and 1-for-13 from three-point range. He averaged 21.2 points and 8.0 assists per game in the series, but the numbers don't tell the whole story here, as the Clippers needed -- and expected -- more out of him, but he couldn't deliver when called upon duty.

25m agoMatthews (illness) skated at practice though his status remains unclear for Saturday's Game 7 against the Bruins, Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com reports.
It's the first time Matthews has practiced since he left Game 4 with an illness-- he'd then miss the next two games in the series. Getting Matthews back would obviously be a massive boost for the Leafs in Game 7, though it appears he'll remain a game-time decision for now.

30m agoMcMann (lower body) will not be in the lineup for Game 7 in Boston on Saturday, according to Joshua Kloke of The Athletic.
The good news is that McMann is getting closer after participating in Saturday's morning skate. The 27-year-old winger will miss his ninth straight game, but he could return in time for the start of Round 2 -- should Toronto advance past Boston. McMann had 15 goals, nine assists and 117 hits across 56 regular-season games in 2023-24.

44m agoLavoie, Lane Pederson, Adam Erne, Cam Dineen, Ben Gleason, Phil Kemp and Olivier Rodrigue were recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Saturday.
The Condors have been eliminated from the playoffs, so all seven will be depth players for the Oilers. Lavoie was without a point in seven NHL regular-season games in 2023-24.

With Nashville eliminated from postseason contention, Gravel will return to AHL Milwaukee for their playoff run. The 32-year-old defenseman last played in the NHL in the 2022-23 season, where he logged one assist in 23 games.

2h agoParssinen was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Saturday.
Parssinen was in the lineup Friday in Nashville's 1-0 loss to Vancouver in Game 6. The defeat eliminated the Predators from the postseason, so the 23-year-old forward will get to play in the AHL playoffs instead. In 44 regular-season games for the Predators in 2023-24, Parssinen had eight goals and four assists. Look for him to suit up as a middle-six forward for Nashville's next campaign.

Danton Heinen BOS CBruins' Danton Heinen: Game-time decision Saturday
2h agoPer Bell Fraser of The Hockey News, Heinen (undisclosed) participated in the morning skate and will be a game-time decision versus Toronto on Saturday in Game 7.
Heinen missed Thursday's 2-1 loss in Game 6 because of the injury. He skated with the second power-play unit to start the practice session before being replaced by Justin Brazeau. Coach Jim Montgomery stated that Heinen's availability for the game will depend on how the 28-year-old forward feels later in the day. If Heinen is unavailable, John Beecher will take his place in the lineup.
