5h agoBailey agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
After four years in Cincinnati, Bailey will get a fresh start in Arizona. The 27-year-old accumulated 73 tackles (46 solo) across 60 games with the Bengals, primarily as a depth linebacker and special teams contributor. He will now look to impress in OTAs and carve out a role for himself with his new team.

8h agoBrown (ankle) was waived by the Titans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown spent all last season on IR, but he was waived without an injury designation, so he should be considered healthy moving forward. The 25-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Troy in 2023 and was working to earn a spot on the Titans roster when he suffered the injury in a preseason contest.

Ryan Swoboda ATL OLRyan Swoboda: Gets cut loose
8h agoSwoboda (undisclosed) was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Swoboda will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed. At that point, he'll be forced to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with Atlanta.

Kyle Peko TEN NTLions' Kyle Peko: Finds new home
8h agoPeko (calf) signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Peko finished last season on injured reserve after competing in 13 games and recording 22 combined tackles. Now healthy again, the veteran lineman will get an opportunity in Detroit for his seventh NFL season. The Oregon State product will also have the chance to reunite with his defensive line coach from the Titans, Terrell Williams, who holds the same position now with the Lions.

9h agoBurrow (wrist), who has resumed throwing, indicated Tuesday that he's fully cleared to do everything that doesn't involve contact, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Burrow, who is bouncing back from a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, started throwing again in April, noting that at this stage his focus is on mechanics like his footwork and arm path, as well as the "little intricacies of the throwing motion." While it remains to be seen when he'll be cleared for contact, Ben Baby of ESPN relays that the Bengals' franchise signal-caller feels as though he's "in a good spot" in his recovery process, and there's nothing to suggest that Burrow won't be ready to go well ahead of Week 1.

9h agoThe Vikings waived Baldwin on Tuesday.
Baldwin spent the entire 2023 campaign on Minnesota's practice squad and inked a reserve/future contract with the team back in January, but he'll now have to look for an opportunity to compete elsewhere. His lone NFL appearance came in one game with the Browns in 2022.

Edward Cabrera MIA SPMarlins' Edward Cabrera: Exits with biceps issue
5m agoCabrera was removed from his start Tuesday against the Dodgers due to right biceps discomfort, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Cabrera's biceps have given him problems numerous times across the past three seasons, though it's not immediately apparent how severe his latest flare-up is. He was only able to get through two innings before coming out of Tuesday's game, allowing one hit -- a Max Muncy grand slam -- in the process.

6m agoHaniger went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBi during Tuesday's 10-6 win over Minnesota.
Haniger got the Mariners on the board in the second inning, tagging Bailey Ober for a long ball to lead off the frame. The homer could be what Haniger needs to break the slump he's currently in, batting 7-for-56 (.125) with a 35.6 percent K rate since April 20.

11m agoRaleigh went 1-for-1 with a grand slam and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 10-6 win over the Twins.
Raleigh replaced Seby Zavala in the seventh innings and came to the plate with the bases loaded and the Mariners down two. He delivered his first career grand slam to give Seattle the lead and score Mitch Garver, Luis Urias and Dylan Moore. Raleigh reached via walk in his other plate appearance and eventually came around to score on a sac fly by Mitch Haniger. In 32 games, Raleigh has swatted nine home runs and owns a .769 OPS.

18m agoOber didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three hits and one walk over five innings against the Mariners. He struck out seven.
Although Ober wasn't credited with the win, he allowed three or fewer hits for the fifth time in his last six appearances. Both runs against him came in the second, when Mitch Haniger swatted a leadoff homer and Luis Urias scored from first on a Dylan Moore double. After a hideous eight-run, 1.1-inning start to kick off the regular season, Ober has been outstanding, with a 2.55 ERA and a 34:7 K:BB across 35.1 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to close out a two-start week Sunday at Toronto.

Tayler Saucedo SEA RPMariners' Tayler Saucedo: Suffers knee injury
21m agoSaucedo left Tuesday's game against the Twins due to a knee injury, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
While running to cover first base on a ground ball during the eighth inning, Saucedo seemed to jam his right leg on the bag before crumbling to the ground in pain and grabbing his knee. The Mariners have yet to reveal the nature of the injury, but manager Scott Servais said the left-hander will be sidelined for "a while." Saucedo has been used primarily in middle relief this season, logging a 2.70 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 13.1 innings.

26m agoHancock didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks with no strikeouts over four innings.
Hancock failed to tally a single strikeout Tuesday -- generating just five swinging strikes -- and yielded all four hits and four runs in the third frame. Hancock couldn't get out of the inning despite retiring the first two batters he faced, allowing a single, walk, RBI single and three-run home run to consecutive batters. Considering Bryan Woo (elbow) just threw five innings in a rehab start and is eligible to come off the injured list Friday, Hancock may be sent to the bullpen or the minors instead of sticking around in the rotation for another start. In seven starts this year, Hancock owns a 5.24 ERA and a 23:11 K:BB over 34.1 innings.

Mitchell Robinson NY CKnicks' Mitchell Robinson: Out for the season
4h agoRobinson suffered a stress injury to his left ankle which will sideline him for at least 6-to-8 weeks, the Knicks announced Tuesday.
This is a brutal blow for the Knicks as it ends Robinson's 2023-24 campaign. Robinson will not need surgery and is expected to make a full recovery before training camp. Robinson made just 31 appearances this season, posting averages of 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 24.8 minutes.

Doncic has been upgraded from probable to available Tuesday despite dealing with a sprained right knee. Doncic averaged 34.0 points, 13.5 assists, 11.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in 38.5 minutes across his two appearances against the Thunder in the regular season.

5h agoThe NBA announced Tuesday that Murray will be fined $100,000 but won't be suspended after throwing a heat pad and towel on the court during Monday's Game 2 loss to Minnesota, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Murray tallied just eight points in Monday's 106-80 loss to the Timberwolves, and threw a heat pad and towel on the court in frustration. However, the star guard will be available for Game 3 on Friday, as Denver will travel to Minnesota looking to avoid a 3-0 deficit.

6h agoThe NBA announced Tuesday that Gobert (personal) has been named the 2023-24 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Gobert has now tied Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace for the most DPOY awards in NBA history with four. Gobert was the anchor Minnesota defense, which boasted a league-best 108.4 defensive rating. The defensive stalwart's 2.1 blocks per game ranked sixth in the NBA while his 12.9 rebounds per contest ranked second.

6h agoAllen (ribs) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Celtics, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Allen will miss his fourth straight contest Tuesday after being downgraded from questionable to out due to a right rib contusion. Isaac Okoro will continue to start in his absence. Allen's next chance to suit up is Game 2 on Thursday.

Robinson logged 12 minutes in Game 1 but seemingly aggravated the surgically repaired ankle that has bothered him throughout the playoffs. Precious Achiuwa will likely receive increased playing time in Robinson's absence, while the latter's next chance to suit up is Game 3 on Friday.

Andersen has allowed four goals in consecutive games for the first time all season. He was limited to just 16 regular season appearances due to injury, so it's possible that fatigue is catching up to the 34-year-old with six consecutive starts. Overall this postseason, Andersen is 4-3 with a 2.58 GAA and a .899 save percentage through 7 outings. Andersen's next chance to rebound would be in game 3 on Thursday against New York.

36m agoShesterkin turned aside 54 of 57 shots on goal in Tuesday's double-overtime win against Carolina.
Shesterkin extended his undefeated streak in the postseason to six games, even with Carolina peppering him in this one. It's the second game in a row Shesterkin has let in at least three goals, but the Rangers have given him enough offensive support to get victories in both games one and two. Overall this postseason, Shesterkin is 6-0 with a 2.01 GAA and .929 save percentage through six outings.

6h agoAlthough an initial report suggested Kuznetsov was unavailable for Tuesday's Game 2 versus the Rangers because of an undisclosed injury, he is actually a healthy scratch, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com
Kuznetsov took a bad penalty in Game 1 on Sunday that led to a goal in what was ultimately a 4-3 loss to the Rangers, which is why he's out of the lineup. The 31-year-old has two goals and four points in six playoff contests this year while averaging a modest 11:37 of ice time. Max Comtois drew into the lineup due to Kuznetsov being scratched.

Kuznetsov has two goals and two assists in six games this postseason. He will be replaced in the lineup by Max Comtois.

Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Set to start Tuesday
6h agoShesterkin is expected to start at home against Carolina in Game 2 on Tuesday, per Colin Stephenson of Newsday.
Shesterkin stopped 22 of 25 shots en route to a 4-3 victory over the Hurricanes in Game 1 on Sunday. He's opened the playoffs with five straight victories while allowing just 10 goals on 126 shots (.921 save percentage). However, the Hurricanes ranked eighth offensively in the regular season with 3.38 goals per contest, so they're likely to be a challenging adversary for Shesterkin.

Andersen struggled a bit against New York's potent offensive attack in Sunday's Game 1, surrendering four goals on just 23 shots en route to a 4-3 defeat. The Rangers will undoubtedly continue to be a challenging opponent for Andersen, but Sunday was just the second time the 34-year-old netminder has allowed four or more goals in a contest through 22 regular-season and playoff appearances combined in 2023-24, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him fare better in Game 2.
