14h agoBailey agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
After four years in Cincinnati, Bailey will get a fresh start in Arizona. The 27-year-old accumulated 73 tackles (46 solo) across 60 games with the Bengals, primarily as a depth linebacker and special teams contributor. He will now look to impress in OTAs and carve out a role for himself with his new team.

17h agoBrown (ankle) was waived by the Titans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown spent all last season on IR, but he was waived without an injury designation, so he should be considered healthy moving forward. The 25-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Troy in 2023 and was working to earn a spot on the Titans roster when he suffered the injury in a preseason contest.

Ryan Swoboda ATL OLRyan Swoboda: Gets cut loose
17h agoSwoboda (undisclosed) was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Swoboda will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed. At that point, he'll be forced to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with Atlanta.

Kyle Peko DET NTLions' Kyle Peko: Finds new home
17h agoPeko (calf) signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Peko finished last season on injured reserve after competing in 13 games and recording 22 combined tackles. Now healthy again, the veteran lineman will get an opportunity in Detroit for his seventh NFL season. The Oregon State product will also have the chance to reunite with his defensive line coach from the Titans, Terrell Williams, who holds the same position now with the Lions.

18h agoThe Giants have claimed Rourke off waivers from the Patriots, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
After being waived by the Patriots on Monday, Rourke was quickly scooped up by the Giants. The 25-year-old is thus slated to add depth to a New York QB corps that also includes Daniel Jones, who is bouncing back from a torn ACL, as well as Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.

18h agoBurrow (wrist), who has resumed throwing, indicated Tuesday that he's fully cleared to do everything that doesn't involve contact, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Burrow, who is bouncing back from a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, started throwing again in April, noting that at this stage his focus is on mechanics like his footwork and arm path, as well as the "little intricacies of the throwing motion." While it remains to be seen when he'll be cleared for contact, Ben Baby of ESPN relays that the Bengals' franchise signal-caller feels as though he's "in a good spot" in his recovery process, and there's nothing to suggest that Burrow won't be ready to go well ahead of Week 1.

5m agoWade went 1-for-2 with three walks and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Rockies.
Wade reached base four times and produced a key two-run single in the fourth to extend the Giants' lead to 4-0. Wade strictly operates in a platoon against right-handed pitching, though if he had enough plate appearances to qualify, he'd be leading the majors with a .485 OBP and 21.4 percent walk rate. He's now reached safely in eight straight games and is slashing .351/.485/.442 with a homer, 10 RBI, 12 runs and a 21:26 BB:K in 101 plate appearances.

Christian Scott NYM PMets' Christian Scott: Draws another start Friday
6m agoScott is scheduled to start Friday's game against Atlanta at Citi Field.
One of the top pitching prospects in the organization, Scott impressed in his MLB debut this past Saturday against the Rays, striking out six over 6.2 innings while allowing one run on five hits and one walk. Despite his stellar debut and strong track record in the minors, the 24-year-old righty likely won't have much margin for error moving forward if he hopes to maintain a spot in the big-league rotation. The Mets have gotten excellent production from three other rotation members (Luis Severino, Sean Manaea and Jose Butto) this season, and while Jose Quintana has struggled (5.20 ERA, 1.54 WHIP in seven starts), his long track record in the majors as well as his $13 million salary for 2024 likely gives him some level of security. Additionally, the Mets could get Tylor Megill (shoulder) back from the 15-day injured list next week, so a poor outing from Scott on Friday could put him at risk of a demotion to Triple-A Syracuse.

8m agoKeller allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks with no strikeouts across three innings Tuesday against the Rays. He did not factor into the decision.
Keller pitched as a traditional starter May 1, but he was shifted back to the bullpen after Mike Clevinger was promoted to the majors. Keller pitched effectively in his return to relief and followed Mike Soroka into the game. However, due to his lack of strikeouts and relatively low win potential, Keller isn't likely to generate much fantasy intrigue.

Pete Fairbanks TB RPRays' Pete Fairbanks: Undecided on another rehab outing
9m agoRays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that the team will discuss whether Fairbanks (arm) will be activated or make another rehab appearance, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Fairbanks allowed two hits but completed a scoreless inning with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday. He averaged 97.3 mph with his four-seamer in the appearance, which is up a bit from his season average. It sounds like Fairbanks could be back as soon as the weekend series against the Yankees, but that decision hasn't been announced yet.

11m agoLee went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.
Lee tallied the first three-hit game of his MLB career Tuesday and now leads all rookies with 37 hits on the year, though only five of those have gone for extra bases. Lee is now slashing .264/.314/.329 with two homers, seven RBI, 14 runs and a 10:13 BB:K in 153 plate appearances.

Shane McClanahan TB SPRays' Shane McClanahan: Throwing from 90 feet
20m agoRays manager Kevin Cash said Friday that McClanahan (elbow) is "progressing well" and has ramped up his throwing off flat ground to 90 feet, MLB.com reports.
The left-hander is still in the early stages of his recovery from his second career Tommy John surgery, which he underwent Aug. 21, 2023. The Rays are preparing for McClanahan to miss the entire 2024 season, though a return in September hasn't been completed discounted if the rehab process goes smoothly for the 27-year-old southpaw.

The Celtics cruised to a 25-point win in the series opener, but Tatum's shooting struggles can't be overlooked, as he had a rough outing and struggled to get things going offensively. The fact that he still came close to reaching the 20-point mark while also posting a double-double goes to show just how immensely talented he is, as he can post above-average numbers even when he has a down night by his standards. Tatum will aim to deliver a bounce-back performance in Game 2 on Thursday.

Darius Garland CLE PGCavaliers' Darius Garland: Poor shooting display Tuesday
8m agoGarland had 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Garland is in line for a rough matchup in this series, as he'll have to deal with two excellent defenders in Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, so his Game 1 display is not entirely surprising. He didn't have his best performances in the first-round series against the Magic either, and he's averaging just 14.8 points and 5.4 assists per game through eight playoff appearances. In fact, Garland has failed to surpass the 15-point mark in six of his eight playoff outings, a clear downgrade after averaging 18.0 points per contest during the regular season.

11m agoMitchell produced 33 points (12-25 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mitchell carried the momentum he had from his epic Game 7 performance against the Magic on Sunday and surpassed the 30-point mark once again. However, the rest of his teammates didn't step up, and the Cavaliers suffered a devastating 25-point loss in the series opener. Mitchell should continue to post excellent numbers as the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense -- by a wide margin -- but there's a chance his mighty performances might not translate into wins as it happened against the Magic in the previous round.

12m agoMobley accumulated 17 points (8-12 FG, 1-2 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists and one block in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mobley continues to play as Cleveland's starting center with Jarrett Allen (ribs) sidelined, but his numbers have not suffered a downgrade. Mobley recorded his third double-double across his last four appearances Tuesday, and he should continue to operate as a reliable two-way threat in Game 2 on Thursday, especially if Allen is unable to suit up once again.

8h agoWiggins logged 16 points (5-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 23 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 victory over the Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Wiggins had his best game of the playoffs, scoring 16 points including three triples. Given he scored a combined 23 points in the first-round series against the Pelicans, outbursts like this shouldn't be expected moving forward. With that said, he should continue to play a meaningful role off the bench, starting with Game 2 which will take place Thursday.

8h agoHolmgren totaled 19 points (8-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, three blocks and two steals over 31 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 victory over the Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Holmgren produced on both ends of the floor, scoring 19 points to go with five combined steals and blocks. After a stellar rookie season, Holmgren is looking to cement himself as an elite center despite his age. The Thunder will be hoping for a repeat performance Thursday before heading back to Dallas for games 3 and 4.

7h agoZibanejad had the primary assist on Vincent Trocheck's game-winning goal in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Zibanejad threw a shot towards the net during the second overtime that popped out to Vincent Trocheck for the game-winner. In addition to the assist, Zibanejad recorded six shots on net, two hits and a minus-2 rating in the tilt. He already has four points (two goals) in two contests this series. The first-line center is up to 11 points in the playoffs -- just one behind superstar center Connor McDavid.

Alex Wennberg NYR CRangers' Alexander Wennberg: Chipping in offense
8h agoWennberg produced a secondary assist in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Wennberg helped out on Alexis Lafreniere's goal in the first period. It was the first point in six playoff contests this year for the 29-year-old Wennberg, who is relied upon for depth, not primary scoring. He's been serving as the Rangers' third-line center between Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko.

Vincent Trocheck NYR CRangers' Vincent Trocheck: Nets game-winning goal
8h agoTrocheck scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Trocheck was able to find a rebound in front of Frederik Andersen before he buried the puck five-hole to win the contest for New York. Trocheck also registered a primary assist on Chris Kreider's third-period tally to go along with six shots on goal, one blocked shot and three hits. Furthermore, the 30-year-old Trocheck skated the most of any player on either team in Tuesday's tilt with a whopping 35:21 of ice time. He's up to five goals and five assists in six appearances this postseason.

Brady Skjei CAR DHurricanes' Brady Skjei: Records assist Tuesday
8h agoSkjei notched an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.
Skjei assisted on Dmitry Orlov's late first-period tally to give Carolina a 2-1 lead heading into the second frame. As Orlov skated towards the front of the net from the corner, Skjei floated a shot from the point that was redirected past Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin. However, the 30-year-old Skjei ultimately took a penalty in overtime that New York took advantage of to win the game. Look for Skjei to rebound with a strong effort in Game 3 on Thursday.

8h agoAho registered three assists in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.
Aho had a hand in all three of his team's goals to go along with seven shots on net, a plus-2 rating, three hits and 30:18 of ice time. That gives Aho five assists in two contests this series, yet the Hurricanes head back to Carolina down 2-0 against New York. The Hurricanes will need Aho to be at his best once again come Game 3 on Thursday if they have any chance of avoiding a three-game deficit. Overall this postseason, the Finnish center has two goals and six assists in seven outings to go along with a plus-3 rating.

Jake Guentzel CAR CHurricanes' Jake Guentzel: Two goals in loss
9h agoGuentzel potted two goals on five shots in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.
Guentzel was set up on both goals by Sebastian Aho, but it wasn't enough to lift Carolina over New York. Guentzel's two markers were complemented by a plus-2 rating and 26:39 of ice time. The 29-year-old has done his part since coming over in a trade from Pittsburgh -- in 17 regular-season outings, Guentzel racked up 25 points. In the postseason, he has seven points in as many games. The Hurricanes will need the star forward to make further contributions in order to get back into this series.
