Chiefs' Chukwuebuka Godrick: Arrested on misdemeanor charge
1h agoGodrick and teammate Wanya Morris were arrested on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges Thursday and released on bond Friday, according to Johnson County (Kansas) Sheriff reports, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
Godrick and Morris were arrested Thursday night and released on a $2,500 bond Friday. Possession of marijuana is illegal in the state of Kansas. Godrick is expected to compete for a roster spot in 2024 after spending his rookie year on Kansas City's practice squad in 2023. It's unclear whether Godrick will face supplemental discipline from the NFL or the Chiefs as a result of this arrest.

Lamical Perine KC RB
La'Mical Perine: Waived by KC
3h agoPerine was waived by the Chiefs on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Kansas City is parting ways with Perine after he rushed for 77 yards on 22 carries while adding three catches for 33 yards in 2023. The 2020 fourth-round draft pick of the Jets spent his first two seasons in New York. Perine will look to latch on with another team prior to training camp.

T.J. Hockenson MIN TE
Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: No timetable for return
6h agoHockenson (knee) said "they haven't really put a timeline on it" when asked Wednesday about a potential date for his in-season return to action, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
Hockenson was specifically asked on the NFL Schedule Release '24 show whether he expects to be playing Week 5 versus the Jets in London. The standout tight end said of his recovery from a right ACL and MCL tear he's "kinda taking it day by day, week by week," and that "the progression has been incredible" even though a specific return timetable remains uncertain. Hockenson underwent surgery late January and doesn't seem likely to be ready for Week 1, but Week 5 could be within the realm of possibility. The Vikings have a Week 6 bye, however, so it's possible that a more realistic target for Hockenson's debut could be Week 7 and beyond.

Najee Harris PIT RB
Steelers' Najee Harris: Dropping weight for contract season
14h agoHarris' trainer said Friday the running back has dropped to around 235 pounds this offseason after playing at 242 during the 2023 season, and that he's increasingly motivated after the Steelers declined his fifth-year option, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
Harris is heading into the final season of his rookie deal with Pittsburgh, so there's no doubt about his motivation to log a productive year and earn sizeable payday for 2025. Playing at a lower weight could help Harris' efficiency metrics, and there's also some reason to be optimistic that he now finds himself in a better scenario than 2023, when he set new career-high marks with eight rushing touchdowns and 4.1 YPC. Rookie first-round pick Troy Fautanu should represent an upgrade to the O-line, and while there are question marks surrounding Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, both have the potential to command a more effective offense than Kenny Pickett did. Harris is capable of handling 20-plus touches but also dependent on volume to produce, making the emergence of Jaylen Warren the biggest threat to his fantasy prospects.

Tua Tagovailoa MIA QB
Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Has skipped some offseason work
14h agoTagovailoa has reportedly missed most of Miami's team activities this offseason while negotiations on a potential contract extension continue, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.
Coach Mike McDaniel and GM Chris Grier have both vocally supported the idea of Tagovailoa remaining with the Dolphins on a long-term basis and an extension being penned this offseason; however, it sounds like until that's official, the team may not have the quarterback's full participation. That said, Tagovailoa was confirmedly a participant in part of Miami's offseason workouts back in April, with Poupart noting the team released videos of him throwing on multiple different days. There are no signs Tagovailoa would consider skipping June's mandatory minicamp, and the quarterback has downplayed concerns about contract negotiations. As things currently stand, Tagovailoa is set to play out the 2024 season under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

Jose Ramirez CLE 3B
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Slugs 10th homer
3m agoRamirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Twins.
Ramirez's long ball gave the Guardians the lead for good in the eighth inning. It was his 10th homer of the year, five of which he's hit over the last 12 contests, a span that's also seen him earn 13 RBI and three stolen bases. The third baseman is slashing .249/.301/.463 with 38 RBI, 28 runs scored, seven steals, six doubles and a triple through 44 games this season.
-
Tim Herrin CLE RP
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Collects second win
5m agoHerrin (2-0) allowed a hit and a walk without giving up a run in one-third of an inning to earn the win Friday over the Twins.
Herrin allowed an inherited runner to score in the eighth inning, which tied the game at 2-2, but the Guardians retook the lead in their half of the frame on a Jose Ramirez solo home run. It'll go down as Herrin's first blown save of the campaign. The southpaw has been quite effective so far with a 0.93 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB over 19.1 innings while adding four holds through 20 appearances. He doesn't seen a ton of high-leverage work and is not in contention for save chances at this time, as Emmanuel Clase has been nearly untouchable for the Guardians this season.
-
Willie Calhoun LAA DH
Angels' Willie Calhoun: Collects four hits
9m agoCalhoun went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's win over the Rangers.
Calhoun opened his night with a groundout in the second inning before singling in four straight at-bats. He's knocked at least three hits in four of his first 13 games with the Angels, including two straight. However, in his other nine games, he's gone 6-for-34 (.176). Calhoun is now slashing .365/.382/.577 with 11 runs scored through 55 plate appearances.

Michael Massey KC 2B
Royals' Michael Massey: Homers among three hits
11m agoMassey went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's win over Oakland.
Massey cracked his fourth home run of the season in sixth inning, hitting it 368 feet to right field. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a hot start to May, hitting .288 (15-for-52) with three homers, five runs scored and 11 RBI this month. Overall, Massey is now slashing .259/.261/.447 over 90 plate appearances while being locked into the starting second base job in Kansas City.
-
Cole Ragans KC SP
Royals' Cole Ragans: Dazzles in victory
12m agoRagans (3-3) earned the win Friday against the Athletics, allowing two hits and two walks over seven shutout innings. He struck out seven.
Ragans dominated a weak Oakland offense Friday night, yielding just one single and one double over his seven innings. The Kansas City southpaw generated a solid 15 whiffs to produce his seven punchouts. Despite two seven-run outings in 2024, Ragans' ERA now stands at 3.70 over 56 innings. The 26-year-old is scheduled to make his next start against the Tigers at home.
-
Tyler Anderson LAA SP
Angels' Tyler Anderson: Back to .500
14m agoAnderson (4-4) yielded a run on two hits and two walks over seven innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rangers.
Anderson was sharp Friday and the only blemish on his final line was a solo shot by Jonah Heim in the second inning. Anderson has won back-to-back starts after going 0-4 over his previous five outings. Despite what that losing streak may suggest, he registered a 4.08 ERA during that span and Friday's start lowered his season ERA to 2.72 through 56.1 frames. Anderson's next start is currently projected to be in Houston next week.

Josh Hart NY SF
Knicks' Josh Hart: Leaves game early
1h agoHart left Friday's Game 6 against the Pacers early with abdominal soreness and wasn't able to return. He finished with five points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block in 31 minutes.
Hart has been powering through a variety of ailments in the playoffs, but the Knicks likely erred on the side of caution Friday due to the lopsided score. Presumably, Hart should be ready for Game 7 by Sunday, but there will be more clarity on Saturday when the Knicks practice.

Kristaps Porzingis BOS C
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Expected to miss start of Round 3
4h agoPorzingis (calf) is expected to miss the start of the third-round series in the Eastern Conference Finals, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Porzingis has been sidelined since he sustained a calf injury in Game 4 of Boston's first-round series. Wojnarowski reports that Porzingis is making progress in his recovery, and there's some optimism that he could return at some point during the series. Boston will face the winner of the second-round series between the Knicks and Pacers, and the opening two games are slated for Tuesday and Thursday.

Luka Doncic DAL PG
Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Listed as probable again
6h agoDoncic is probable for Saturday's Game 6 against the Thunder due to a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness.
Doncic hasn't missed a game this postseason despite being a regular on the injury report. That trend should continue Saturday as the Mavericks attempt to secure a spot in the Western Conference Finals. Across the previous five matchups versus Oklahoma City, Doncic averaged 23.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.8 steals in 41.0 minutes per game.
-
Olivier-Maxence Prosper DAL SF
Mavericks' Olivier-Maxence Prosper: Remains out
6h agoProsper (ankle) won't play in Saturday's Game 6 against the Thunder.
Prosper has yet to suit up this postseason while dealing with a left ankle sprain. While it is unclear when the rookie forward will return to action, it seems unlikely he will receive significant playing time even when available.

Anthony Edwards MIN SG
Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Scores 27 in big win Thursday
1d agoEdwards notched 27 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 7-8 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 34 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards bounced back from an ugly outing in Game 5 and led Minnesota in scoring in this pivotal matchup, as he looked far more aggressive than during his previous appearance. Edwards deserves credit for his constant off-the-ball movement as well, as his movements on the perimeter, coupled with the return of Mike Conley from a one-game absence, made things very difficult for Denver on defense. This was Edwards' fourth game with at least 25 points in the series, and he's expected to operate as Minnesota's primary offensive weapon in Sunday's do-or-die Game 7 at Ball Arena.
-
Jaden McDaniels MIN SF
Timberwolves' Jaden McDaniels: Excels in Game 6 victory
1d agoMcDaniels notched 21 points (8-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 30 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
McDaniels is not known for his scoring ability and often gets recognition for his defensive work. Still, he stood out when it mattered the most in this series and finished as Minnesota's second-highest scorer. McDaniels is not expected to hover around the 20-point mark regularly going forward, but this was an excellent showing in a game during which his team needed him to step up. In fact, this was McDaniels' second-best scoring output in the current playoff run, as he scored 25 points in the Game 2 win over the Suns in the first round.
-
Alexandar Georgiev COL G
Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Tending twine Friday
2h agoGeorgiev will get the starting nod for Game 6 at home against the Stars on Friday.
Georgiev wasn't very sharp in Game 5 but still managed to earn a win despite allowing three goals on 26 shots. He's registered an unsightly .880 save percentage through five games this series. Georgiev owns a 3.09 GAA and an .886 save percentage in 10 postseason appearances.
-
Dylan Garand NYR G
Rangers' Dylan Garand: Reassigned to minors
4h agoGarand was demoted to AHL Hartford on Friday, per CapFriendly.
Garand earned a promotion for Game 6 against Carolina on Thursday but was quickly sent back down. Barring multiple injuries to goaltenders, he shouldn't see any action for the Rangers this postseason.
-
Jeremy Swayman BOS G
Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Guarding cage Friday
5h agoSwayman will get the starting nod for Game 6 at home against the Panthers on Friday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Swayman will make his 11th consecutive start Friday. He's won five of his previous 10 while posting a .929 save percentage over that span. However, he's registered a 3.03 GAA and a .915 save percentage this series against Florida. Swayman helped fend off elimination with a Game 5 win by stopping 28 of 29 shots.
-
Brad Marchand BOS LW
Bruins' Brad Marchand: Good to go Friday
5h agoMarchand (upper body) is warming up and is expected to play Friday against the Panthers, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Marchand will get back in the lineup after missing Games 4 and 5 due to an injury he sustained during Game 3. He tallied two assists in the first three games this series and has 10 this postseason. He'll slide back into his usual top-six role with a heavy role on the power play.
-
Jake Oettinger DAL G
Stars' Jake Oettinger: Set to start Friday
9h agoOettinger is slated to guard the road goal against Colorado in Game 6 on Friday.
Oettinger will look to rebound after allowing five goals on 27 shots en route to a 5-3 loss to the Avalanche in Game 5 on Wednesday. He's 7-5 with a 2.27 GAA and a .914 save percentage in 12 playoff appearances this year. The Avalanche are fantastic offensively, having ranked first in the regular season with 3.68 goals per contest, so they're likely to test Oettinger frequently in the upcoming clash.
-
Roope Hintz DAL LW
Stars' Roope Hintz: Still missing Friday
10h agoHintz (upper body) will remain unavailable for Game 6 versus Colorado on Friday, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.
Hintz will be out of action for his second consecutive game due to his upper-body issue. Coach Peter DeBoer told reporters he was hopeful the 27-year-old center would be healthy in time for Game 7, if necessary. While Hintz has scored just one goal in his last seven outings, he has chipped in four helpers, including two with the man advantage. With Hintz out, Matt Duchene figures to continue anchoring the first line alongside Jason Robertson and Joe Pavelski.
